Collaborative communities: community matrix
Revisions Made:
1. Removed Survey Monkey as a tool.
2. Removed Audacity as a tool.
3. Added audio assessments and feedback to a different tool: eBackpack.
Reflection:
In my original feedback, it was suggested that I was close to having too many tools. I also was questioned about the use of Notability because it is only available on the iPad. I have chosen to leave Notability as a tool. This choice was made due to circumstances. I am designing this course based on my current teaching position. All of the students at my school have iPads, so selecting a tool that is only available on the iPad is not an issue.
I also chose to remove two tools: Survey Monkey and Audacity. I made this choice for two reasons. The first reason for removing these tools was to reduce the number of tools used in the classroom. Although the students I work with have many years of experience with technology, I want to limit the anxiety associated with new technology. I am choosing to use only two new tools that students haven't worked with in the past. This will help eliminate the anxiety of too many new tools in one course.
The second reason I chose to removed the two tools is due to overlap. Survey Monkey is a tool for surveys. There is a survey component in the LMS my school uses. Since students are already comfortable with this tool, it makes sense to just stay with it. Ebackpack has audio production capabilities. Since students are already comfortable with ebackpack, it makes sense to use this tool.

This Community Matrix
represents the tools I currently use and/or will use in an online
classroom. I have selected tools
that will not only enhance learning, but also create an effective online
community. I have identified the
type of connection the tool will be used for, whether that is
learner-facilitator, learner-learner, or learner content. I have also share how each tool will be
used.
