Example "Connect" Activity: |
This is a sample activity from Module Four: Solving Quadratics. The goal of this activity is for students to create a video in which the quadratic formula is presented in a new and different way. It could be a story, song, or any other creative idea. Students have been working on solving quadratic equations using different methods. This activity gives students an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the quadratic formula in a new and meaningful way, making this a "connect" activity.

Module Four: Solving quadratic equations.
Objective: You will be able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the quadratic formula.
Goal: Create a quadratic formula video.
Many of you can repeat lines from songs, TV shows, and movies. You can do this with little to no effort. We are going to take advantage of this skill of yours. We are going to take what we have been working on and transform it in a way that makes it a little easier to remember.
We have been working on different ways to solve quadratic equations. One of those ways is with the quadratic formula. This formula is very important, but can be challenging to remember. Your challenge is to take the quadratic formula and transform it. You will be creating a video in which the quadratic formula is presented in a new and different way. This could be a story, a song, or any other ideas that will provide a new way to remember the quadratic formula.
Here is just one example to get you started.
